How to track RSVPs and attendance

Every event has an RSVP & Attendance section showing a count of Going, Maybe and Not Going, and the names under each.

Families do this themselves from the schedule. You do not chase RSVPs through the app so much as give people somewhere obvious to put the answer.

The Take Attendance section lists every player with Present and Absent buttons. Their RSVP shows beside their name, so you can see who said they were coming, and "No RSVP" where nobody answered.

The page says the important part out loud: marking attendance is separate from the RSVPs above. You are recording what happened, not confirming what somebody predicted.

Attendance on the team schedule opens the season report: every player down the side, every past event across the top, and a rate for the team.

Three symbols, and the third one matters.

• A tick means present.
• A cross means absent.
• A dash means nobody marked that event at all.

Only past events appear. Nothing in the future can have attendance yet, so the report does not pretend otherwise.

Not discipline, in most leagues. The honest uses are quieter.

• Spotting the child who is drifting away. Three absences in a row is usually a family problem, a scheduling clash or a child who has stopped enjoying it. Noticing in week five is worth a great deal more than noticing in week ten.
• Answering a parent who asks. "How many has she missed?" is a much better conversation with a number in front of you.
• Planning next season. A Tuesday with consistently worse attendance than a Thursday is telling you something about the night, not about the team.
